Bio

My first introduction into the Criminal Justice System was when I completed a Law and Criminology foundation year; I subsequently completed my Law Degree (LLB) in 2019 and was awarded First-Class Honours.  I really enjoyed studying law and wanted to delve further, focusing on particular areas of interest. In 2021 I was awarded a Master’s Degree in International Human Rights Law.

I am passionate about defending people’s rights and fighting injustice and the experience I have gained has led to a strong desire to work within the legal system, specifically in Criminal Defence.  I joined Hill Twine Solicitors in 2022 and am delighted to be on the journey to qualify as a solicitor.  Prior to joining Hill Twine Solicitors I worked for HMCTS, based at Bournemouth Crown Court.  I was a Jury Officer and, subsequently, the Crown Court Administrative Team leader.  Working for the Court Service gave me an invaluable insight into the the Criminal Justice System and I am extremely grateful for the experience working for the Ministry of Justice gave me.

I joined the firm in September 2022 as a Paralegal, providing extensive support to the firm’s solicitors and barristers to fully prepare cases for hearings.  In January 2023 I became a Trainee Solicitor, the first person to benefit from Hill Twine Solicitors’ Apprenticeship Scheme!  I am working full-time, alongside my studies.  One of my primary responsibilities is securing legal aid funding for clients by submitting applications to the Legal Aid Agency on their behalf.  I liaise with clients to take their instructions for upcoming hearings, with a particular focus on trial preparation and addressing the disputed issues in the case.  I particularly enjoy attending at the Police Station, the magistrates’ court, and the Crown Court, providing support to the firm’s lawyers and assisting our clients, as well as developing my own skills and knowledge.  I look forward to qualifying as a solicitor in 2025!

Personal

I have a great interest in Human Rights, which is reflected in my choice of Masters Degree and the papers I wrote. I also volunteer with an LGBTQIA+ group which seeks to provide a safe space for young LGBTQIA+ people to express themselves, as well as to empower and boost their self-esteem.  I have previously volunteered with Cancer Research and a mental health charity.  I also enjoy reading.
